Products Description:
Electro slag remelting (usually abbreviated to ESR), also known as electro-flux remelting, is a process of remelting and refining steel and other alloys for mission-critical applications with special high quality requests. Our electro slag remelting (ESR) process for stainless steel was started with regular stainless bar obtained from conventional melting process. The bar is used as consumable electrode and has already the chemical compositions of the desired material.
There are substantial differences for ESR stainless steel compared with the conventional melting processed stainless steel During ESR process, there is at all times only a small amount of steel in the liquid state, for which the flow of heat and crystallization occur in a steady manner. The crystallites grow freely and almost parallel to the ingot longitudinal natural axis. The stainless steel bar obtained by this remelting / refining process is very homogeneous and free of internal defects. The segregation of the ingot are substantially eliminated meanwhile the segregations of crystals are also significantly reduced.
